What Is a Good Pre-Season Training Plan for High School Varsity Soccer?

The soccer season at my high school starts in about 1 month. Right now my max endurance is about 5 miles in 50 minutes. I think I can run a mile in about 8 minutes. I haven't played soccer on the team before, but I have friends on the team because I did varsity tennis and swim. What kinds of things do i need to take into account in my training? I am going to quit if I can't make varsity because I am senior. My plan is to train really hard for about 5 weeks, mainly on fitness, and hope for the best. I am just looking for tips on making it. Would my time be better spent training or practicing skills? I guess I will need to do both as much as I have time for.
